My name is Mo and I have been a celebrant in Glasgow with Celebrate People since 2019. I have learned so much from meeting people from all walks of life, whether it be a wedding, a funeral, a memorial, a naming ceremony. I like to think that my ability to connect with people, listen to what they truly want and bring it all together for them is where my strengths lie.

Although I was once chosen for a ceremony because I was short, and it would look better for the photos, it all counts.

Location: Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Ayrshire, Stirling and across Scotland

Passionate: Choice. Tolerance. Compassion.

Three words: Creative. Supportive. Humorous

I have learned so much over the years and the biggest gift that I get to share is the gift of choice. The freedom to offer people alternative paths to celebrate any occasion. I take great delight in seeing the reactions of people when I explain what choices are available to them.  Many are excited , some get creative, and some are relieved. They all feel empowered.

I try my best to meet people in person to discuss their ideas. This allows for a better understanding of who we all are and how I can best support you. We keep in touch throughout the process to develop the ceremony. It will be fun, I promise.

So , if you want a tenacious, chatty, attentive, empathetic person to be part of your ceremony, I will be delighted to hear from you.

Maureen was incredible. With our wedding during lockdown nothing was set in stone but Maureen made it completely stress free. Our ceremony was perfect in every way ❤️. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts or making our wedding day so memorable.

Thank you so much for all of the help and support you have given us up to and including today. You’ve really captured our personalities with the ceremony and have brought it together perfectly. We are so glad that fate brought us together and you are the one to marry us.

The funeral service was excellent and when spoke to the family they thought it was perfect and the way Gemma would have wanted it. You carried out the service extremely well considering the circumstances. Thank you again for your help on your help for the service.

My husband Andrew and I were so lucky to have Maureen Waterston (Mo) as our celebrant at our wedding 1st November this year. We met Mo initially at a wedding fair, and after chatting away for a good half an hour we agreed she was the perfect fit for our wedding day! She also explained to us initially about Celebrate People’s ethos and the background, both my husband and I passionately share beliefs that align with Celebrate People- so this was definitely a winner for us. We followed up with an in person meeting, Mo was so kind and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She guided us through a typical ceremony, introduced to us all the different parts and ensured we knew what we had to do and when by. She sent drafts of the ceremony to us ahead of time, no request was too much- she even vetted our vows for us to make sure we were both on the same page. We had a ceremony totally tailored to us, including hand fasting and drinking from the Quaich (and a few jokes for good measure). We can’t thank Mo enough for helping in bringing together what was the perfect day, I couldn’t recommend enough!!!

From the moment we got in touch with Mo, she was so attentive, gave lots of advice and could not be more helpful with the whole wedding ceremony process. She was easy to chat to and with her wealth of experience we knew we were in safe hands. Mo was ever so patient with putting our ceremony together whilst we were back and forth with names to include, readings and all the personal details that you don’t realise make the ceremony so unique. Her suggestion of the ‘ring warming’ was perfect for us and so many guests had never experienced that before in a wedding and complimented such a nice way of bringing them into our day. We could not recommend Mo Waterston enough, she will truly make it very special.

Mo (Maureen Waterston) was the best person to have carried out our ceremony. It’s such a difficult decision of who to choose with so much choice. Right from the first meeting with Mo we knew we had found the right person. We were both made to feel at ease straight away and she helped us to create the right day for us. Mo really worked with us to understand our relationship. Neither of us like to be the centre of attention, so we were able to create a day that wasn’t just about our story, but also included the people that mean the most to us. Our ceremony was lighthearted, funny and exceptionally well delivered, I wish we could do it all over again! We had so much feedback from our guests about how personable and funny our ceremony was. We would like to express our thanks again to Mo and would recommend her to anyone.

Mo (Maureen Waterston) was the best celebrant we could have wished for – our ceremony was one of our favourite parts of the day. We wanted a celebrant who could match the vibe of our ceremony, able to have lighthearted fun but also meaningful moments. We both come from religious families so we wanted someone who would be able to understand this despite us not choosing to have a religious ceremony. Mo was the best – she was great at communication, and made us feel so happy and comfortable from our first meeting. Our ceremony was so ‘us’ and all our guests told us how much that came across. Mo guided us through the whole process so well, giving us tips and direction to really end up with the perfect result. She was friendly and funny and made everyone feel at ease (especially us!). We couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Maureen Waterston was our Celebrant and was more than we dreamed, from the moment we met her we left saying we could have stayed and spoke to her all day. Made us feel so at ease & comfortable. Maureen helped us honour our loved ones who are no longer with us in a special way that didn’t take away from the happiness of the day. Our story was told beautifully and authentically. Maureen helped us live in the moment and let our beautiful son who is autistic be himself and went with the flow, we couldn’t wish for a more genuine and kind person to Marry us and be a part of our special day. We wish Maureen nothing but happiness she deserves everything and more.

Mo gave us a ceremony which was engaging and really fit the style we were going for. She was always on hand throughout the planning process to answer any questions and help if we needed advice. We were very glad we asked her to be our celebrant.

My husband and I would like to say a massive 'Thank You' to Mo, our wonderful celebrant, who married us in May. Mo was amazing to work with. We had similar ideas and with her experience, it all came together on our special day. She gave us so much help and advice, and support, allowing us to relax and enjoy our lovely service. We had the most beautiful, happy day . We would highly recommend Mo, she was absolutely fantastic!!!
