I have been a Celebrant since 2003 and I am the Pastoral Care Lead with Celebrate People.  I conduct many different kinds of ceremonies in English, Spanish, French and Italian!  I love totally personalised ceremonies and helping couples and families to be part of creating memories for the people they love.  I am passionate about celebrating LGBTQIA+ people’s ceremonies. We have 2 trans members of our family and know how important our approach is!

It is my joy to respect the beliefs of people with spiritual and religious beliefs too.  And the balance between warmth, humour and the quiet and beauty when you make your vows is central to my approach and my relationship with you.  Celebrating and remembering the life of someone is a total privilege and one of the most significant things i have ever done over the past 20 years.

Empathy and kindness and genuine enjoyment is central to everything I do.

I was a government adviser on involving people in their health care and in 2022-3 I was the Co-Chair of the Scottish Government’s Expert Working Group on Spiritual Care Education (Health and Social Care).  I am now Trustee of Pushing up the Daisies charity.

I am completely passionate about person-centred ceremonies that are tailored to your wishes and hopes and needs.

Love and connection are everything to me and as the first women to be married in an Equal Marriage ceremony in Scotland, Susan and I welcome ALL who love, and who love each other in marriage. We are even known to conduct ceremonies together by special request. We are Trans allies and LGBTQIA+ passionate!

I am a counsellor with Celebrate People and I can accompany people at the end of life too.  I am grateful to do what I do, I really am.

I am here if you would like to ask any questions at all.

The most romantic, light-hearted, well-delivered ceremony
"Gerrie conducted our ceremony and not only is she an amazing celebrant but she is an amazing human!

Gerrie helped us design a ceremony that reflects both myself and my, now husband, Michael. Gerrie kept in touch all throughout the planning stages and was just superb on the day.

Our ceremony was nothing short of perfect! Gerrie was full of energy and kept all of our nearest and dearest totally engrossed in her lovely words. Many of our friends and family commented in our guest book that it was the most romantic, light-hearted, well-delivered ceremony they had ever been too!

We can’t thank Gerrie enough! You're just a total ray of sunshine and you made our day!"

Countless friends and family commented on how amazing you were and we absolutely adored the ceremony as you led it.

Celebrating our Mother's life
I'm writing on behalf of the whole family to thank you very much for conducting such a wonderful service for our much loved mother Jean.

Your guidance, experience and insight from the outset was hugely valuable to us all at a time when we needed direction. We thought that you captured the spirit and tone of how we saw things and wanted them expressed absolutely perfectly. So thank you very much.

Marriage in the Forest
Gerrie married us in a very intimate ceremony in Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, Aberfoyle. She was all we needed and more on the day as well as in the process leading up to it. We were determined to have a personal ceremony and with the help and advice of Gerrie, we were able to easily put together the wording and itinerary ourselves. Gerrie was beautifully friendly and open from the first communication and for that we are full of gratitude. We had some emotionally tough family illness leading up to the day and Gerrie was understanding and accommodating of what our needs and wants were at every step, nothing felt stressed or uncomfortable. The level of warm relaxed communication made for a really wonderful experience in planning our ceremony and Gerrie felt more like a friend than a service. Thank you for you and we hope to see you again sometime back in Scotland or afar.

Gerrie married us at the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel – she was amazing from the moment we met her. She explained everything so clearly and we knew we were going to get the personal ceremony we were after. She was charming, funny and knowledgeable about everything. We could not imagine our wedding without Gerrie!

I just want to say a heartfelt thanks for the kind and sensitive way in which you conducted the funeral service for A. That and the peaceful ambience both inside and surrounding the Hurlet crematorium went a long way towards quelling the feelings of raw sadness I was feeling
