Scottish Retreats - Celebrate People

When he’s not being a celebrant, Angus is Creative Director of the social action and arts organisation Aproxima Arts, and we’re delighted that one of his recent events has won a prestigious Thistle Award from VisitScotland.

Commissioned by Hospitalfield and Arbroath 2020+1, Over Lunan was an extraordinary promenade performance in the dunes of Lunan Bay in Angus, Scotland which ran from 9 – 19 September 2021.

Working with dramaturg and former Artistic Director of the Unicorn Theatre Purni Morell, Over Lunan blended an atmospheric, ambisonic sound installation and live music with elements of public memorial. Although the event has passed, you can still enjoy a specially commissioned radio piece which explores the fascinating connections between two beautiful parts of the world, each conveying a fascinating and little-known history.

Over Lunan won the Outstanding Cultural Event or Festival category for Central, Fife & Tayside, so now Angus and Aproxima Arts go forward to the National Final of the Thistle Awards which will be held in February 2023. We wish them the best of luck!
